Gingham Gang:OOTD

At first, I was skeptical about gingham print becoming a leading trend, since it took me right back to the days of when I was in primary school and wearing those little summer dresses (does anyone else remember wearing them?). I also felt like wearing the print might be a bit picnic blanket esque. However, despite being a bit late to the trend, I feel gingham has come into its own and is even more perfect now since it fits in with the autumnal season, and can be layered and complimented with aspects of colour!

It was a very satisfying moment when the piece I had been eyeing up in the H&M catalogue, was in stock in my local H&M; and for once, in my size! I picked up this gingham shirt dress and I have been wearing it so much recently.

I find it perfect since it is so easy to layer up. I am wearing it with a plain black long sleeved turtle neck underneath, but it also works really well with red to make more of a bold statement. Wearing it with my patent heeled black shoes creates more of an edgy look, which brings out that inner confidence and give you that ‘bring it on’ feeling. But this piece is so versatile, so it can also be styled to be more ‘girly’ with a delicate necklace and flat loafers or ankle boots.

The beat part; it’s a shirt, a dress, and it has pockets! What more could you want?

OBVIOUSLY I had to test to see whether it was ‘cafe suitable’ …I can confirm that it passed the test!  You’ll always find me in a cafe this time of year for a little hot chocolate stop.

Some other gingham pieces I am loving for more inspiration:
